On Friday 1/23/2026 afternoon 1pm EST will be updating all of our email servers software SmarterMail to the latest, just released, build which has been designated a priority release that addresses possible security issues. We don't expect the upgrade to take more than 1 hour. We will update this post as needed.

The critical build release has now been applied to all email servers. Email services should remain available. If this had not been a critical release we would've applied it after hours to lessen the impact to our clients. Unfortunately, this was a critical one and needed to be applied as soon as possible to avoid any future email server security issues.

EasyAsp email services disruption

An email vendor security update which was applied late last night seems to be experiencing issues. Currently only webmail is affected. Other email services and protocols such as POP3, IMAP, and SMTP remain operational. Incoming and outgoing email delivery will continue to function normally. The only difference is being able to login, send, receive,etc. using the webmail feature. We are currently working on restoring webmail services and will update this post with any progress. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are running one last thorough scan on the updated systems. Scans can take some time due to the amount of data stored on the servers. As soon as these scans are complete and come back with no negative results we can then expect webmail to be available shortly after that. Thanks again for your patience and understanding.

Billing Update

Beginning on the January 2025 billing cycle, we will enact a price increase of $2.00/month on our shared hosting services and $0.01/MB on disk space overages. Resellers, dedicated servers, domains, and SSL pricing will remain the same. We've been able to keep the same pricing structure for over 15 years thanks to our efficient use of resources, staff, and outside contractors but the rising costs of power, bandwidth, equipment upgrades, and vendor services has forced this increase. We value you as a client and look forward to continuing to serve all of your web hosting needs.

Holiday support response times

As a result of the upcoming holiday season and staff vacations we will have a reduced support staff and you may experience increased support response times from Sunday 11/1/2023 through the end of the year. Servers and applications will continue to be monitored and managed and we will do our best, as always, to reply to and resolve any issues as quickly as possible. However, please be aware that there may be a delayed response of 12-24+ hours to any support tickets during this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Email server operating system upgrades

On Friday evening 8/24/2024 at 12AM EST will be attempting to upgrade all of our email servers to the latest operating system which inludes advanced security, enhanced features, and other improvements. We don't expect the upgrade to take more than 2-4 hours. We will update this post as needed.

Maintenance - Microsoft Cumulative Update Priority Install

Over the next 2-3 evenings on Wednesday, 5/29/2024 will be be manually forcing Microsoft cumulative updates on serveral of our web servers that were not automatically updated. We expect very little downtime which will only occur during the 2-3 reboots the servers may require to complete the updates. We will update this post once the process is complete or if there are any actionable items that may prolong or delay this maintenance.

The cumulative updates on most of the servers were successful but several of them needed a reboot to apply the updates. Some completed successfully but a handful failed to apply the update. We will need to reboot those servers again. Services may be unavailable during those reboots which can take between 30 minutes to a few hours while the updates are being applied.

The first stage of the cumulative updates has been applied and completed. The same servers will still require an additional reboot to start and complete the second stage. Services may be unavailable during these reboots, which will be implemented during off-peak hours, which can take between 30 minutes to a few hours while the updates are being applied.

Maintenance will begin on 7/26/2024 Friday evening 11:45PM EST. We expect the first stage to take about 22 hours during which there will be no website service downtime or interruption. Once the first stage is complete, servers will automatically reboot to apply the updates. Website services will be unavailble during these reboots and can take upwards of 8+ hours. We expect website services to be unavailable starting at approximately 10PM on Satruday and last most, if not all, of Sunday afternoon and evening. We have set a cutoff time of 5AM EST Monday morning. If the updates have not been applied by then we will roll back the maintenance.

The most recent update attempts slowly reached 65% but the decision was made to stop them to allow clients website access during normal business hours. We will evaluate several other update paths the Microsoft technical team has provided in terms of how to proceed and we will update this post with details when rescheduled.
