How do I publish my site using HTTP in MS FrontPage?
Flash Tutorial:

1. Open MS FrontPage
Note: If your web host has installed FrontPage Extensions on the server for you, you will need to publish your site via HTTP. DO NOT publish your site via FTP. FTPing will cause your permissions to get corrupted.

2. Open the web on our local computer that we wish to publish

3. Locate the web files on your local computer

4. Now that we have opened our local web, go ahead and publish to the server by:
4a. Click File
4b. Click Publish Web

5. When publishing via FP, enter http://www.yoursite.com. (You may have to use the temporary server as defined in your welcome email if you have not updated your DNS name servers yet).

6. Enter the username and password provided to you in the Welcome Email

7. When in the Publish Web window, you have the option to change the destination of where you are publishing the files

8a. Your local files are located on the left side
8b. The remote files are located on the right side
8c. Your Welcome Email will give you the location of your remote files (wwwroot)

9a. To upload an individual file, simply drag it from the left pane into the right pane
9b. When you are done you will see that the file has been successfully moved to the right pane or remote files

10a. If you have created subwebs in your site, you should include them when publishing by checking the Include Subwebs box in the lower left of the screen
10b. You should also set your options by clicking the options button

11a. If this is the first time publishing your site, you will want to publish all pages. For future uploads, you can change this option to publish changed pages only.
11b. Click OK

12. You are ready to publish all files to the local server by clicking the Publish button

13. You will receive confirmation that all files have been successfully uploaded. If the log files are turned on in options, you may see a detailed report of the publishing session.

Very Important:

You must have MS FrontPage extensions installed in order to publish via MS FrontPage. Click here for instructions on how to add MS FrontPage extensions to your account.

Also, if you are using MS FrontPage, do NOT connect or publish to using an FTP program other than FrontPage. You will most likely corrupt the FrontPage extensions, thus requiring us to delete and re-add the extensions.

Username / Password:

To find out your FrontPage username (will be something_fp):

  1. Login to the helm control panel.
  2. Click domains
  3. Click your domain
  4. Click FrontPage Extensions
  5. The username will have an _fp: (this is your FrontPage username)

To find out your FP password:

  1. Simply type in a new password for password and confirm password
  2. Click save
  3. This process may take a few minutes, especially if your site is large as FrontPage needs to reset the permissions and password on every page of your site.
